LURAY, Va. — After closing its doors for good, Brookside Restaurant and Cabins will briefly reopen to host a week-long estate sale.
Brookside, known for its down-home cooking and outdoor peacock enclosure, has been a favorite of tourists and Page County residents for nearly a century. It officially closed on March 23, 2025.
Former customers and fans of the historic property now have the opportunity to own a piece of Brookside history during an “everything must go” sale that begins May 16 and runs through May 24, 2025.
The sale, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the first four days, is listed on two separate Quest Estate Services web pages HERE and HERE. Sale times for the final four days are listed on the website.
According to the Quest listing, food will be sold and provided by Brookside staff during the estate sale:
Chicken Tenders, Hot Dogs, French Fries, BBQ, Nachos and chips, Cookies, Texas Sheet Cake, Brownies, and Drinks. Say goodbye to staff and remember the good times. Wine will be sold for $5.00 a bottle at the gift shop by an ABC manager of Brookside.
Estate items for sale include commercial kitchen equipment, appliances, framed art, office supplies, seasonal items, and home décor. Also included in the sale are restaurant tables and chairs, booths, and cabin furniture. Even the famous “DIXIE” sign is for sale. Employees are unable to lift, move, or load purchases. Editor’s note: Both pages provide plenty of pictures of available items. Many photos may simultaneously evoke feelings of both happiness and sadness, but those of us who got to experience Brookside throughout the years are thankful for all the good memories. Happy retirement, Bob and CeCe!
