LURAY, Va. — After Schewel’s Home Store announced plans to move to a new site in early 2025, local discussion focused on possible plans for its former location in the Food Lion Shopping Center.
Several unconfirmed sources indicated that the new tenant would be Marshalls, a discount clothing and home décor retailer with hundreds of locations across the country.
Marshalls operates under the corporate umbrella of TJX — a Fortune 100 company that also owns TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, HomeSense, Sierra, Winners, and TK Maxx.
In March, the Shen-Valley Times (SVT) reached out to TJX Public Relations Supervisor Catrina Boncaldo for information regarding the new Luray store.
Via email, Boncaldo simply stated, “We anticipate that the new Marshalls store in Luray, VA will open in the future.”
Requests for additional information went unanswered.
This week, Marshalls began running employment ads for the position of Assistant Store Manager at the 1462 US Highway 211 West (Luray) location.
Noting the ads, SVT again reached out to the public relations supervisor requesting information about the new store.
Boncaldo responded by saying, “We anticipate that the new Marshalls store in Luray will open this fall.”
No additional information was provided.
