Rappahannock County, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a Sperryville man on Monday.
According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred March 3, 2025.
At 12:55 p.m. a 2016 Ford Fiesta was traveling south on Zachary Taylor Highway (Route 522) when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound 2023 Ford F-150 half a mile south of Hillsboro Road (Route 662).
The driver of the Fiesta, Gerald L. Ochs, 79, died at the scene.
The driver of the F-150, a 61-year-old male from Inwood, WV, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Valley Health Winchester Medical Center for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
