SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a crash that killed a Strasburg woman on Friday.
According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred April 25, 2025.
At 8:35 a.m., a 2011 Ford F-250 was traveling east on John Marshall Hwy when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline, sideswiped a westbound 2010 Subaru Outback, and collided head-on with a westbound 2022 Toyota Camry, near Back Road.
The driver of the Ford, Roy J. Mongold Jr., 44, of Fisher, WV, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Subaru, a 24-year-old female from Charlottesville, and an adult female passenger were not injured.
The driver of the Toyota, Alysia Marie Coffelt, 28, of Strasburg, died at the scene.
Torre Rivers, a friend of the Coffelts, has organized a GoFundMe Campaign to assist the family with funeral expenses.
Charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.
