LURAY, Va. — The Page County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has released a statement regarding a recent death at the Page County Jail.

In a January 13, 2025 media release, the PSCO explained circumstances leading to the death of the unnamed male inmate.

On Friday, January 10, the inmate, who had just been evaluated, treated, and released from a medical facility for underlying health problems, returned to the jail.

At approximately 11:33 a.m., the inmate collapsed and became unresponsive.

Deputies immediately began life-saving measures and contacted EMS, who responded and continued life-saving measures.

The inmate did not survive.

Per Department of Corrections protocols, an in-custody death falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME). The body was transported to the OCME in Manassas for an autopsy.

No additional information will be released at this time.
