Gusts of 50 to 60 mph expected
LURAY, Va. — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Washington DC has issued an Urgent Weather Warning for portions of Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, including the counties of Page, Washington, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick (Va), Warren, Clarke, Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley, Jefferson, and Hardy.
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, the NWS issued the following alert:
HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO 1 AM MONDAY
West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph expected. The strongest wind gusts are expected Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening.
Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Use caution if you must drive. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph may linger at times through Monday.
