Crews battle second major blaze in less than a week
LURAY, Va. — On Thursday evening, the Luray Fire Department (LFD) battled a structure fire in the Egypt Bend area.
The incident occurred February 6, 2025.
It was LFD’s second major residential fire in less than a week.
Just before 11 p.m., Company 1 was dispatched to the 600 Block of Riverbend Drive, for reports of a structure on fire.
Engine 9, Engine 12, Response 1, Tanker 1, and Tanker 8 all responded.

Crews arrived to find a single-wide trailer heavily involved. However, they were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes.
Afterward, Company 1 remained on-scene for approximately two hours cooling “hot spots” and ensuring the fire was completely out.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
