Department and county also receive a ‘shout out’ from a grateful visitor
SHENANDOAH, Va. — During Sunday’s especially high winds, a local fire department handled 16 calls for service in just few hours.
On February 16, 2025, Shenandoah Fire Department 70 handled calls ranging from small woods fires, power lines down and structure damage between the hours of 2-8 p.m. All calls were handled by volunteers who staffed four pieces of apparatus.
The Shenandoah Fire Department expressed gratitude via the following social media statement:
We are thankful no injuries was reported to civilians or fire personnel. We thank the community for your continued support and our members who answered the calls.
The Shenandoah Fire Department itself was recently the recipient of gratitude from a Rappahannock County writer who found herself in need of help after a traffic crash:

A few weekends ago, I was riding in my friend Amanda’s car to go snow tubing in Page County, something as two Southern women, we had never experienced.
We were enjoying the drive, catching up and talking about the winter weather — then all of a sudden there’s an airbag in my face, and white powder clouding the air.
A woman ran a stop sign, we collided, and there we found ourselves in the middle of the street an hour from home in Shenandoah, Va. Both cars were totaled.
