LURAY, Va. — The Luray Police Department (LPD) is investigating the case of a missing 6-year old boy.
A few days after “missing posters” from the Aware Foundation began to circulate on social media, the LPD released a July 21, 2025 statement that read:
The Luray Police Department along with federal and local law enforcement are actively investigating the missing juvenile case of Harrison Jones.
The juvenile was reported missing on June 23rd, 10 days after he was last seen by his father.
Once reported to the LPD, it was discovered that the father has primary physical custody and the mother had joint custody, all living in the same household at that time.
On June 23rd, once the Luray Police Department initiated the investigation, investigators were able to locate the child with his mother in North Las Vegas and a welfare check was performed with no issues found.
Once a court proceeding was held on July 8, a judge issued a full custody order to the father; this enabled the LPD to obtain abduction warrants on the mother on July 9th.
The father has been made aware of every action the LPD has taken thus far.
Continuous efforts are being made to locate the juvenile and bring him home safely. No further information will be provided at this time.
Luray is a rural area in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, known for it’s world-famous caverns and proximity to Shenandoah National Park. The town, located in Page County, is approximately 90 miles west of Washington, D.C.
