STANLEY, Va. — On an especially eventful summer day, the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) somehow managed to simultaneously attend meetings, conduct training, and respond to several calls for assistance.
On June 19, 2025, members of the department gathered for lunch and dinner, with plans to conduct a water emergency response drill later that afternoon.
From 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., however, SVFD crews also responded to four emergency calls, including:
Lines and transformer down in Aleshire Hollow
Lines down on Masonic Drive
Medical assist
Traffic crash on Hawksbill Drive
Taking it all in stride, the SVFD posted a message on Facebook, expressing appreciation for its 100% volunteer crew, and for the meals, provided courtesy of the SVFD Auxiliary and High Country Contracting.
