LURAY, Va. — On May 12, 2025, the National Weather Service in Washington DC issued a Hazardous Weather alert and Flood Watch for Page County and surrounding areas.
A Flood Watch is in effect Monday evening through late Tuesday evening.
A period of moderate to heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms is expected tonight into Tuesday night. Rainfall amounts of two to four inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible along the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Alleghenies.
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
The following areas are included in the flood watch: Albemarle, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Eastern Highland, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Warren and Western Highland and eastern West Virginia, including the following areas, Eastern Grant, Eastern Pendleton, Hardy, Western Grant and Western Pendleton.
Extended Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of eastern West Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western Maryland: A Flood Watch is in effect tonight for most locations south of the Potomac River. Isolated instances of flooding are possible elsewhere. The Flood Watch will continue through Tuesday evening. Isolated to scattered instances of flooding due to periods of heavy rain are otherwise possible across the area through Wednesday.
Areas include Washington, Frederick MD, Carroll, Northern Baltimore, Northwest Montgomery, Northwest Howard, Northwest Harford, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick VA, Page, Warren, Clarke, Nelson, Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Rappahannock, Orange, Culpeper, Northern Fauquier, Southern Fauquier, Western Loudoun, Eastern Loudoun, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Northwest Prince William, Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley, Jefferson and Hardy.
