PAGE COUNTY, Va. — Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has announced the names of its latest grant and scholarship recipients.
Five Page County organizations were among those named for community grants.
Awarded a grant to purchase fresh produce, ingredients and other supplies to prepare and deliver a variety of healthy soup meals to senior citizens in Page County.
Page Library Association
Awarded a grant to replace all current fluorescent lighting in the library with more energy-efficient LED lighting.
Awarded a grant to provide a back-to-school celebration for low-income children in Luray.
Shenandoah Elementary School PTA
Awarded a grant to purchase musical instruments and instructional items for the music program.
Awarded a grant to help with essential support, including food, hygiene products, diapers, formula, clothing and emergency assistance to individuals facing financial hardship.
Operation Round Up first began providing funds to community organizations in 2018.
The program builds a charitable fund through co-op members who voluntarily round up their bills each month. An annual corporate contribution also supports the mission.

Funds are available to any group, charity or organization that serves SVEC members.

Applications for the final grant cycle of 2026 are due by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

According to the SVEC scholarship information page:
Since 1992, SVEC has offered scholarships to high school seniors in the region we serve. A student’s parents or guardians must be members of SVEC whose primary residence is in the Valley, and the student must attend a high school located in the counties or city served by the cooperative.
Scholarships are intended to be awarded to students for the fall semester following their high school graduation, and funds are expected to go toward the intended career path outlined in a student’s application. SVEC’s scholarship committee will consider situations on a case-by-case basis.
