FRONT ROYAL, Va. — At 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Warren County Fire and Rescue (WCFR) crews responded to a motor vehicle crash near milepost 9 on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
WCFR Battalion Chief 1 arrived on-scene to find a four-door sedan off the roadway with significant damage.
Two occupants had self-extricated before fire and EMS crews arrived, while a third remained in the vehicle.
EMS personnel determined that two of the three patients required advanced life support.
Additional ambulances and resources were requested, and providers began treatment at the scene. Firefighters assisted the remaining occupant out of the vehicle and up a wooded embankment.
Due to the severity of the injuries, AirCare 6 from Culpeper was called to transport at least one patient.

Skyline Drive, near the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center, was temporarily closed to establish a safe AirCare landing zone.
