Driver Seriously Injured After Failing to Stop at Railroad Crossing

WARREN COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a crash involving a train.

According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred January 5, 2025.

At approximately 5 p.m., a 2017 Infiniti Q60 was traveling south on CCC Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign on John Marshall Highway and collided with an eastbound Norfolk Southern train.

The driver of the Infiniti, Sharon L. Roeder of Linden,, was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

There were two occupants on the train but neither was injured.

Roeder, 53, was charged with reckless driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
